🎹 D'Arezzo vs Boethius: Which Piano Note Notation is Right for You?
💡 Which notation should you use?
There is no preference as both the D'Arezzo and Boethius piano note naming systems are widely accepted globally.
However, it's highly recommended to be familiar with both. Here's why:
1️⃣ When collaborating with international musicians, understanding both notations allows for seamless communication, especially during rehearsals. This is crucial for those pursuing professional music studies.
2️⃣ For singing and solfège, D'Arezzo's "DO RE MI" syllable-based notation is often preferred as it makes the experience more pleasant.
Music theory, including harmony and chords, is typically based on the Boethius letter-based notation (C D Em, etc.).
3️⃣ Based on teaching experience, students who learn both notations simultaneously tend to progress faster and have an easier time with music exams.
